JOSEPHIAN PROGRAMME > About the Programme

Selected boys with overall high academic ability will be developed in the Josephian Talent Programme (JTP) which is a joint talent programme run by SJI(Secondary 1–4 )
and SJI Junior(Primary 4-6). This talent programme is offered to selected boys from Primary 4 to 6 and from Sec 1 to 4 in SJI if they are admitted into SJI.

In the programme, the boys will undergo a special curriculum differentiated in terms of context (what they learn), product(how they show their understanding) and environment (the context of learning: e.g. Outside classroom). Classes are maintained at 25 a class. Pupils who qualify for the 2nd Gifted Screening test are selected for the JTP. Should there be vacancies for the following year’s P4 JTP class. the places will be offered to boys who sat but did not qualify for the 2nd Gifted Screening Test and who come in within the top 10% of the cohort.

These boys also display talent in English language, mathematics and Science. Continuation in the programme is contingent on student performance and attitude. Boys not coping with the high overall demands of the JTP may be invited to join the Specific Talent Development Programmes (i.e. English Language, Mathematics of Science to develop his talent in more specific areas.

There is no lateral transfer into the JTP after primary 4. i.e. no new students are admitted to the JTP classes in Primary 5 and Primary 6. All the students in the special Stream (PSLE T-Score of 250 and above) are eligible to apply for Josephian Talent Programme in SJI as well as those at 2 A-Stars (2A*) in English, Mathematics or Science in PSLE. All eligible students have to sit for a general ability test and a language ability test.
